Many records were broken at the Memorial Day Show. Roquel Merrick ran two supreme pony times and eight AAA+ times. Sam Fossum from the Norco area in Southern California broke the all time arena record for Barrels with an 18.820 on Saturday in a very wet arena! The weather was cold, windy and rainy all day on Saturday, but the show went on and the arena footing remained awesome! Sunday brought beautiful weather and over 40 riders. We decided to run 9 events on Saturday and the other 9 on Sunday and on Monday we ran set-ups. Greg Walker spent most of his time on the tractor and kept the arena ground in fantastic shape! The District 4 riders that joined us all were very impressed with our District and arena! They were so much fun and helped out with the entire weekend and made sure that everything was put away before the show ended on Monday!
Many yearly arena records were broken by our District 49 members too. We gave out $1800 in jackpot and placing money with an additional $1125.00 in highpoint pay-outs. The total money given out was $3000.00!
High point results are available on the show results page. Check out the new updated awesome all time arena records and the new updated yearly records.

Welcome to new riders Jeff & Ellen Carr of Orland. Ellen is also a judge and helped tremendously with our large show of 53 riders. Jeff & Ellen are going to make District 49 their home district now. Many wonderful times ran...especially in Barrels. Crimson & I both ran 19.5's...our best times ever. Crimson was a solid top AAA rider at the show. Heather Johnson ran her best time in Birangle with a 14.921. The arena footing was awesome!! Robert Sutton made a new implement for the tractor which made a dramatic improvement as seen by the fast times ran! We had eight wonderful lead liners who all entered the arena together and were ready to ride! The show ran smoothly with seven events done by 3:45pm with 53 riders. The emergency gate was installed at the far end of the arena by the Park & Recreation Department. They have plans to widen the main entrance in early May to accommodate the larger rigs for the Memorial Day show.

We had an awesome Easter Show on March 22nd with 56 riders coming and enjoying the beautiful spring weather! When we were planning our 2008 show schedule, we did not realize that Easter was so early in March and that our show was the day before Easter. I did not think we would have a large show due to spring break and the holiday, but we sure were pleasantly surprised, especially since we had ten lead-liners and more than forty kids participating in the Easter egg hunt! Everyone brought a bag full of candy-stuffed eggs and we must of had at least several hundred eggs! Thanks everyone for making this such a special and fun show for our little ones. We probably had over 100 people on the arena grounds and the snack bar was extremely busy keeping everyone well fed. What a great family-oriented show. The lead-liners were adorable. We had all ten of them come into the arena at the same time and what a great sight! We should have pictures available of the kids in the arena at the next show. It was great to have Doc Sultzbaugh back in the saddle again on his new horse Penny Lane. You have some serious competition with Shirley, Judy and Chanter. Look out gals!!
Don't forget to send in your entry form for the Memorial Day Show before May 16th. This should be a great show...you won't want to miss it!

Our show on March 1st brought us 34 riders with sunny but chilly weather! The horses were definitely a little rowdy with this being the first show of the season, but everyone managed to hold on and have fun. We had Mike Caldwell & his daughter Jordyn joining CGA and our district for the very first time. A big "Howdy" to you both and welcome to our family! Megan Adams was riding her brand new horse "Notes & Melody" and are a great team. We look forward to watching you both excel in gymkhana. This was our first show with an "open pony" division since 2005 and the ponies were runnin'! It seems they run better & quicker when competing against the other ponies. Way to go Pony Girls! We also give out a reserve hipoint award in every division now too, so the winning just got even better...

The horses came ready to compete and win as many riders moved up into higher divisions and two yearly arena records were broken. Faith Stewart on Penelope broke the record in barrels with a time of 19.361 and Scarlett Kettell broke the birangle record with a 14.526. We also had five lead liners who did a terrific job and got to choose from the prize drawer for their awards: Jamie & Jessica McEntire, Natalie Staas, Kay Lorimer, & David Sowder. We have to give applause for the parents who event after event lead their kiddies through the course and put on a big smile when they finally cross the finish line...some more exhausted then others! (you know who you are...)
